The Betterphoto Guide to Digital Photography

Highly Recommended, October 17, 2005

Prasad Upasani (Southern California) - See all my reviews Guide to Digital Photography . A lot of books these days equate digital photography with Photoshop, which to me is a waste of time. If you don't take good photos to begin with, the end-result will not be good not matter how much post-precessing you do on your computer. This book actually talks about photography techiques in a very accessible fashion. Aperture, shutter speed, iso, white balance are gently de-mystified, while equal emphasis is given on the content and compositon of photographs. As a relative newbie to serious photography, I found this book's explanantions and illustrations to be very good indeed. Highly recommended!

A fantastic learning tool!, September 17,
By Chad Myers (Duluth, GA) - See all my reviews A friend loaned me the older version of this book, and I was amazed at how much help it provided. Even though the old book was based around film cameras, the fundamentals that were taught and the example pictures were very, very helpful. This book is an almost complete update, with most sections rewritten, several new subsections added with specific information for digital users, and has a slew of new example photographs. http://astore.amazon.com/the-digitalphoto-book-20

Very infomative, March 30,
By L. Jenkins "Many hobbies in Texas" - See all my reviewsLove this book. It has the answers to most of the problems you have with digital photography that you want to fix. Things like something else being in the picture that isn't supposed to be there and taking away flaws in the skin. It gives you the simple way to do these things. I've only had it for 2 days and I've already learned a couple of things I'll use over and over. It even tells you the setting that you need to use as defaults on Elements. The other book I bought with this one "Photoshop Elements 6 the missing manual" is good also but it's so huge. This one goes into more detail on do this and do that. Love it!

Canon EOS 40D Guide to Digital Photography

Best Canon EOS 40D Guide available!, December 21, 2007

LadyC (Waterloo) - got this book in November and am glad I did. I previously used another brand of digital single lens reflex camera and needed some serious orientation to both the 40D and the Canon world in general. This book gave me everything I needed. It's packed full of information about setting up and using the camera, recommendations about specific Canon lenses, and has good coverage of getting the best exposure, choosing settings, and so forth.
